Lesson in life

Friday 10 April 2015

Just the other day I was watching a movie with the kids called Mr Peabody and Sherman. Such a cute film with an awesome  moral of the story.  Mr. Peabody, the most accomplished canine, and his boy, Sherman, uses a time machine to embark on outrageous adventures. However, when Sherman takes the machine without permission and causes havoc with world history it is up to Mr. Peabody to rescue the past, present and future from being completely altered.

Sherman discovers Leonardo da Vinci's flying machine and with a bit of hesitation he gets in and decide to fly it. Just to impress a girl - it's the natural order of things. He aced it, flying in between buildings and keeping the plane in the air. That was until his dad saw what he did. As any parent would do, Mr Peabody freaked out when he saw what his son was busy doing. Knowing full well he is incompetent in doing what he did. He immediately yelled at the top of his voice telling his son, that was still flying the plane, he is incapable of doing it. Sherman repeated his dad words to himself and in an instant he believed those words and crashed the plane.

I don't have to spell it out, you can guess what I am about to say. The tongue is mightier than the sword. Choose your words wisely as your kids would believe some of what you say. Depends on the age, I guess. Embrace the challenges they choose upon themselves, although it might not easy. Let them keep their childhood faith, after all if you can dream it, you can do it.
